Title: Optimizing the S-CO2 cycle: A Novel Roadmap Guided by the Split Method

 

Bio: Dr. Sun Enhui, A.P., graduated from NCEPU. Current research focuses on new power generation technologies. Published over 30 papers, including 2 ESI highly cited papers. Undertaken key R&D plan topics of the MOST, the NSFC of Youth Fund. Won the first prize of 2023 Electric Power Science and Technology Progress Award. Invited to serve as the youth editorial board of the Thermal Power Generation, the special editor for Proceedings of the CSEE and Thermal Power Generation.

 

 

 

Prof. Takaaki Tomai

Tohoku University, Japan

Title: Enhancing CO2 Electrochemical Reduction via Hydrothermal Conditions

 

Bio: Prof. Tomai graduated from The University of Tokyo in 2008, and received his Doctor of Science from the same institution in 2008. He was appointed as Professor in Tohoku University in 2023. His current research focuses on hierarchical structural control of nanomaterials and development of novel chemical process toward carbon neutral chemical industry. He has published nearly 100 papers, with over 2,500 citations, and has an h-index of 25.

 

 

 

Prof. Youcef Bouaichaoui

Birine Nuclear Research Center, Algeria

Title: Numerical simulation of the IAEA Benchmark Regarding Fluid-to-fluid Similarity for Heat Transfer at Supercritical Pressures

 

Bio: Dr. Youcef Bouaichaoui Senior researcher at Thermal-hydraulic laboratory in Birine Nuclear Research Center depending to Algerian Atomic Energy commission since 1997. His activities have been mainly devoted to experimental study of critical heat flux using experimental test loop facility, modeling and computational simulations of boiling flows, mixing phenomena, nuclear desalination and supercritical fluids using CFD code (ANSYS-CFX) and system codes (APROS & RELAP5).

 

 

 

Prof. Minyi Xu

Dalian Maritime University, China

Title: Magnetic Mass-enhanced Triboelectric-electromagnetic Hybrid Vibration Energy Harvester for Self-powered Wireless Remote Sensing Systems

 

Bio: Prof. Minyi Xu received his Ph.D. degree from Peking University in 2012. During 2016–2017, he joined Professor Zhong Lin Wang’ group at Georgia Institute of Technology. Now he is a Professor in the Marine Engineering College, Dalian Maritime University. His current research is mainly focused on the areas of blue energy, self-powered systems, triboelectric nanogenerators and its practical applications in smart ship and ocean.

 

 

 

Prof. Deqi Chen

Chongqing University, China

Title: Experimental Investigation on the Characteristics of sCO2-Water Heat Transfer in PCHE Near Pseudocritical Region

 

Bio: Dr. Chen is professor at Chongqing University. He received Ph.D. degree from Chongqing University. Dr. Chen focus on the researches about nuclear thermal-hydraulics and safety, system and equipment of micro/small nuclear reactor, energy complementary and efficient utilization technology and system, and so on. Funded by China government and research institutes or companies, Dr. Chen has a long working experience about those researches including experimental study and theoretical investigation. As first author or corresponding author, he has published more than 70 papers. 

 

 

 

Associate Prof. Pan Wu

Xi’an Jiaotong University, China

Title: Application of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Brayton Cycle Technology in Nuclear Engineering Applications

 

Bio: Dr. Pan WU is a tenured associate professor from School of Nuclear Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University. He is also the deputy secretary-general of the Shaanxi Nuclear Society. He graduated with a Ph.D. from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2015 and started working at the university as a faculty member. During this time, he conducted a year of postdoctoral research at McMaster University in Canada. His main research areas include safety and thermal-hydraulic studies of nuclear engineering, development of numerical analysis codes for reactor application, advanced reactor concept, high efficiency energy conversion systems and supercritical fluid cooled nuclear power systems. He has led several projects of sub-projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Key Research and Development Program, and university-industry collaborative research project, and has published nearly 50 papers. He is a core member of a provincial-level teaching team in Shaanxi and published two books.

 

 

 

Prof. Ting Ma

Xi'an Jiaotong University, China

Title: Progress on flow-thermal-stress multiscale numerical method used for high temperature/high pressure mini-channel heat exchangers

 

Bio: Dr. Ting Ma is a professor at the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University. His research interests include heat transfer enhancement under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, mini-channel heat exchangers, and electronic cooling. He has published over 100 international journal papers, obtained more than 20 invention patents, and given over 30 plenary/keynote/invited speeches at academic conferences. He is the winner of Outstanding Youth Foundation of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the First Prize of Technological Invention of Shaanxi Province, and the First Prize of Technological Invention of MOE. He is an Associate Editor of ASME Journal of Solar Energy Engineering and Journal of Enhanced Heat Transfer.

 

 

 

Prof. Yuming zhu

Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Title: Testing and Analysis of Supercritical CO2 Centrifugal Compressors for 1MWe Power Cycle

 

Bio: Mr. Zhu graduated from Beihang University with a bachelor's degree in 2015, a PhD degree from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2020, and a postdoctoral fellow in 2023, mainly studying supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) power generation technology. At present, he takes charge of a National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund and participates in the CAS Project for Young Scientists in Basic Research.

 

 

 

Prof. Ran Tian

Beijing Institute of Technology, China

Title: Heat Transfer Mechanisms and Prediction based on the Evolution Characteristics of Supercritical Fluids

 

Bio: Prof. Tian Ran is an associate professor at School of Mechanical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology. She received her BSc and PhD from Xi’an Jiaotong University and Tsinghua University. Her research interest includes the heat transfer of supercritical fluids for advanced power cycle, and thermal management of electrical and military vehicles. She led the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Space Science and Application Project (sub-project), National Defense Science and Technology Project, National Key Laboratory open project, Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Plan, and she was awarded the second prize of science and Technology Progress of China Instrumentation Society.

 



Prof. Min Xu

Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Title: Energy, Environmental, and Economic Feasibility Assessment of Solar Adsorption Cooling Systems under Different Climate Conditions in China

 

Bio: Dr. Min Xu received his PhD degree in chemical engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in July 2012 and then moved to Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences for a researcher. Since Dec. 2015, he has been an assistant professor. His current research focuses on the efficient utilization of low-grade thermal energy, adsorption cooling and thermochemical energy storage. He has published more than 40 articles in the international journals including Nature Communications, Chemical Engineering Journal et.al.

 

 

 

Associate Prof. Huan Guo

Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Title: Symmetry Analysis Method for Analysis and Optimization of Thermal Cycles

 

Bio: Huan Guo is an associate professor in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the CAS. He is mainly engaged in the research and development of physical energy storage systems including compressed air energy storage (CAES) systems and compressed carbon dioxide energy storage systems. He has lead 9 projects and published 65 papers. He won the Second Prize in Natural Sciencefrom the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics in 2023 (1/5). He serves as a young editorial board member for internationally/domestically renowned journals Carbon Neutrality and Energy Storage Science and Technology.

 


 

Associate Prof. Quanbin Zhao

Xi’an Jiaotong Unoversity, China

Title: Operation and Control Characteristic for FHR and SCO2 Brayton Cycle Coupled System

 

Bio: Quanbin Zhao is an associate professor from Xi’an Jiaotong Unoversity, served as the deputy director of Energy Efficient and Clean Transformation Engineering Center of Shaanxi Province. Zhao’s research interests include thermal systems design and control, hydrogen fuel cell operation and control, thermal hydraulics in nuclear power system, and so on. He held 2 National Natural Science Foundation Projects, 2 sub-projects of National key research and Development Project, 2 key research projects of Shaanxi province, and many other projects. Zhao has published over 60 international journal papers and hold over 20 patents. His research achievements have won the First Class Prize of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province (ranked in 3rd place). And in 2023, Zhao is honored with the 4th Youth Science and Technology Award of China Power Engineering Society. 

 

 

 

Prof.Dariusz Mikielewicz

Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland

Title: Energy Dissipation in Modeling of Supercritical Heat Transfer

 

Bio: Graduated from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Gdansk University of Technology, 1990, PhD from the Dept. of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, University of Manchester, UK, 1994, habilitation in 2002, title of professor in 2010. In 1994-1996 at Nuclear Electric plc, UK. Since 1996 at Gdańsk Tech. In 2021, elected as a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He published over 200 papers and obtained Siemens, Prime Minister and Polish Academy of Science awards. Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Thermodynamics in years 2014-2021.

 

 

 

Prof.Qian Li

Northeast Electric Power University, China

Title: Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics in PCHE Channels

 

Bio: Prof. Qian Li is an associate professor in School of Energy and Power Engineering of Northeast Electric Power University. His research interest includes complex flow and heat transfer, printed circuit heat exchanger, and lead-bismuth eutectic flow. He published more than 20 papers. He was the editorial board member of Journal of Northeast Electric Power University.

 

 

 

Prof. Caiyan Qin

Harbin Institute of Technology, China

Title: Performance Analysis and Optimization of a Parabolic-Trough Solar Collector with Nanofluid Partitions for Efficient Solar Thermal Conversion

 

Bio: Prof. Caiyan Qin is currently an Assistant Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen). She was selected as high-level talent in Shenzhen in 2022. Her research interests include solar thermal utilization, micro/nanoscale heat and mass transfer, and performance analysis of integrated energy systems. She has published over 30 SCI papers in the related fields with over 1100 citations. She is board member of two international journals and also serves as a reviewer for multiple renowned international journals.

 

 

 

Prof. Shan Sun

Xi’an Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd, China

Title: Thermodynamic Cavitation and Its Influence on Flow Behavior in the Liquid Carbon Dioxide Expander

 

Bio: Dr. Shan Sun works at Xi’an Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. His research interest includes two-phase flow, turbomachinery and thermodynamic cycle. He published 3 papers (SCI) on the topic related to thermodynamic cavitation in liquid turbine expander

 

 

 

Prof. Chaofeng Hou

Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Title: Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Thermodynamic Properties of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

 

Bio: Dr. Chaofeng Hou is a professor at Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). His research interests focus on multiscale electrothermal simulation of nanostructured materials and nanodevices, high-performance algorithm design for atomistic simulation, theories for nanoscale heat transfer and gas-liquid-solid phase transition.

 

 

 

Prof. Haixin Guo

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, China

Title: Solvent Effect on Selective Decomposition of Formic Acid To Hydrogen

 

Bio: Dr. Haixin Guo is a Professor at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (Agro-Environmental Protection Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs).  She obtained her M.S Degree from Nankai University in China and her Doctor of Philosophy in at Tohoku University (Sendai, Ja, pan). After obt, aining her Ph.D. in 2018, she was immediately promoted to Assistant Professor at Tohoku University, and in 2022, she moved to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. She has research interests in sustainable catalyst development, hydrothermal reactions including carbonization, solvothermal and mechanochemical pretreatment of biomass and conversion of biomass into chemicals and biofuels.

 

 

 

Prof. Chaohong Guo

Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Title: Internal Flow and heat transfer characteristics of supercritical CO2 in a Mwe-Class Radial Expander

 

Bio: Dr. Chaohong Guo is associate professor in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and post professor in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is principal of the expansion work system in the HiGT, focuses on investigating the , flow and heat transfer principles of supercritical carbon dioxide in rotating flow, and the aerodynamic theory of supercritical carbon dioxide expanders.

 

 

 

Prof. Yongchang Feng

Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Title: Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics of CO2-based Mixtures in a Vertical Circulation Loop

 

Bio: Dr. Yongchang Feng is an associate researcher at Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, CAS. His research focuses on multiphase flow and thermophysics problems such as supercritical fluid flow and heat transfer, reactions in porous media, as well as research work on measurement and control techniques of flow heat transfer. He has presided over the research projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and participated in the international coopera, tio, , , n projects of the Foundation of China, "From 0 to 1" of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Japan Science and Technology Agency. In recent years, he has published more than 20 academic papers in the prestigious journals. He is the winner of the Special Research Assistant Funding Program of CAS and the 'Outstanding Young PhD Talent Support Program' of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics.

 

 

 

Prof. Yuan Zhou

Title: Study on Critical Flow of Supercritical CO2 Nuclear Energy System under High Pressure and Wide Temperature Range Condition

 

Bio: Prof. Yuan Zhou is Research Leader in Nuclear reactor thermal hydraulic in School o, f Physics at Sichuan UniversityChina. He received his BSc from Shandong University and his PhD from Shanghai Jiaotong University in China. He has been dedicated to the fundamental research of , thermal and hydraulic in supercritical CO2 nuclear energy systems. In response to safety issues such as rupture accidents and seal leaks in supercritical CO2 reactors, he has built experimental devices for supercritical CO2 forced and natural circulation at Sichuan University. He has conducted research on pressure relief and critical flow supercritical CO2, comb sealing technology, natural circulation, heat transfer and flow instability, and won the Outstanding Research Talent Award “Sichuan University Academic Newcomer Award” in 2021. In 2024, the supercritical CO2 research work he participated in won the Special Prize of China National Nuclear Corporation Science and Technology Award.

 

 

 

Prof. Zhouhang Li

Kunming University of Science and Technology, China

Title: Design method of horizontal evaporators in Supercritical Energy Systems: Recent Trends, Improvement and Limitations

 

Bio: Prof. Li hold, s a professor position at School of Metallurgy and Energy Engineering in Kunming University of Science and Technology. His research covers several topics in the field of multiphase flow and heat transfer, particularly in the area of fluid dynamics and heat transfer near the critical point. He has published over 30 articles in internationally recognized journals, edited two books, and has been involved in about ten research projects funded by Chinese government, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany) and industries. He was the young editorial board member of Coal Conversion.

 

 

 

Prof. Karim Ragui

Title: Intermittent liquid-like and gas-like sub-regimes of supercritical CO2 in mimicking sedimentary microporous under pressure drop fluctuations

 

Bio: Dr. Karim RAGUI is Senior Researcher in Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, CAS, China. He worked as Associate Professor in USTHB University, Algeria, and Paris-Saclay University, France (2015-2022). His research interests lie on supercritical fluids for green energy, heat & mass transfer, multiscale porous matrix, and nanotechnology. He is an Editor-Board member and Guest Editor in several Springer journals. He published innovative models on heat and mass coefficients for hazardous contaminants in porous media, nanomaterial instabilities, and invasion dynamic of supercritical CO2

 

 

 

Prof. Zhan-Chao Hu

Sun Yat-sen University, China

Title: Piston-effect-driven pulsating flow for heat transfer enhancement in supercritical fluids         

 

Bio: Dr. Zhan-Chao Hu is now an associate professor in the Department of Applied Mechanics and Engineering at the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Sun Yat-sen University. He obtained his PhD in Mechanics from Peking University. His current research interests include supercritical fluids, thermoacoustic phenomena, turbulent heat transfer and hydrodynamic instability. In recent years, he has published nearly 20 papers in international journals/conferences, and one monograph about heat-mass coupling transport in supercritical fluids

 

 

 

Prof. Yuki Kanda

Tohoku University, Japan

Title: Experimental visualization for transport phenomena in supercritical carbon dioxide

 

Bio: Dr. Yuki Kanda is an assistant professor at Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University. He received his PhD in Engineering from Tohoku University on March 2020. His work focuses heat and mass transfer measurement with optical techniques, and target phenomena are especially supercritical fluid, carbon dioxide adsorption, and gas hydrate.
